The interplay of immunity and metabolism

The focus of my lab is to understand how immunity contributes to the maintenance of metabolism, and how metabolism affects immunity.

Metabolism and Immunity have long been considered as two distinct biological functions. While metabolism is responsible for the processing and disposal of nutrients, immunity guards the body from pathogen invasion. Nevertheless, in a panoramic view, both metabolism and immunity act to maintain the homeostasis of the body for which is crucial for survival. Our lab focuses on understanding how disturbed metabolism may affect immune responses.
